Moab, Utah and the surrounding region has been the backdrop for many a motion picture for obvious reasons. The dramatic scenery composed of layered sandstone, red rock arches, and towers is at once otherworldly and yet definitive of the American Southwest. This ruggedly beautiful landscape captivates adventurers of all disciplines from around the world. Rock climbers, canyoneers, river rafters, mountain bikers, 4×4 drivers, and adventurous motorcyclists relish this stunning natural setting.
This April, we’re launching our first off-pavement guided adventure focusing on this specific area: MotoQuest’s Moab Explorer Scouting Adventure. Dedicating four consecutive nights of lodging to Moab gives our guests time to immerse themselves in the vast terrain without concerning themselves with packing and unpacking each day.
Dom Bauer, who calls Moab his winter home, is not only guiding this unique adventure, but has been instrumental in constructing this itinerary based on his experience as well. Previous MotoQuest adventures led by Dom include Alaska, New Zealand, Peru, Patagonia, American Southwest, and Baja.
Since the quality of the dirt roads of this area change significantly from one year to the next based on precipitation and use, Dom has been pre-riding his preferred routes to check current conditions. He’s excited to share the recently resurfaced tarmac twisties, maintained meandering dirt roads, and more challenging unpaved paths with our guests.
While Dom is an old hand at riding this region, we’re still considering this a scouting adventure. You know the deal: possible U-turns, longer than expected days in the saddle, and new-to-us lodging make unforgettable memories and exciting stories to tell your friends when you get back home.
So… are you ready to join us?
