All summer long, the crew at MotoQuest has been discussing plans to add an all-new itinerary to our calendar. As the busy guided adventure season started to settle, we huddled up, mapped it out, and now a scouting date has been set for our first guided adventure from Anchorage to Portland via the Cassiar Highway!

You can now be a part of our scout trip that will bring riders on an adventure of both paved and dirt riding that isn’t for the faint of heart. However, we know that after our fearless leader and founder Phil Freeman gives you a quick taste of the trip, you’ll be eager to join us on an unforgettable journey! Phil has explored the expansive landscape a time or two, and knew it would be right for the MotoQuest riders who are looking for something new and exciting

DATES AND ROUTE

CASSIAR SCOUT ADVENTURE

August 30, 2020 – September 12, 2020
August 29, 2021 – September 11, 2021

HERE’S PHIL…

As an Alaskan, you find yourself meandering to and from Alaska overland more than just a few times. Over the years, I have driven, ridden and hitch-hiked to and from Alaska by way of the two main options: the Alaska Highway and the Cassiar Highway.

Both bring to the table the same profound enormity of unadulterated wilderness. You literally travel for days through lands that seemed to have never been touched by humanity. Mountain ranges, wild rivers, lakes and forests pass by you as you snake your way north or south through Canada.

For those who have traveled with us on our North to Alaska trip, or have taken the Alaska Highway route, you know that you are in for spectacular scenery, WWII history and even a soak in natural hot springs. However, there is a lesser known highway which features every bit as much beauty and serenity as the Alaska Highway.

We have been wanting to showcase the Cassiar Highway for years now, and finally, I am proud to announce a scouting itinerary which features this treasured byway. I believe it compliments our North to Alaska Adventure very well in that it deviates from that itinerary, wherever possible, to the adventurous side of things.

This scouting trip will offer longer days in the saddle and dirt-surfaced highways. It features a free day in British Columbia, where riders can opt to explore a variety of world-class scenic destinations.

This ride is not for the novice or the pampered. Scouting trips are the first time we run an itinerary, so sometimes things don’t go as planned and days can be longer than hoped for. You get the idea. We are not offering a polished program. We are calling on the “non-polished,” two-wheeled adventurer to join us, and help us make the best trip possible for the future. That means if you cry over spilled milk, this trip is not for you.

For those who have sat up a little straighter at the challenge of a scouting trip, I should let you know that our scouting trips tend to fill up quickly. We are putting one of the best lead guides on this trip, and for any of you that know Dan Patino, you know you are in for a good time.

Booking for the Cassiar Scout Adventure next August is officially open. Come experience Wrangell-St. Elias National ParkDawson City and Whitehorse in the Yukon, the Cassiar in British ColumbiaHyder in Alaskathe Olympic Peninsula, and the Columbia River. Don’t think twice, because you know you are going to have the time of your life. Unless of course, you just cried over spilled milk.

UPSHIFT Online Rides The Cassiar

The team over at UPSHIFT proved just how gnarly they are when they jumped on the chance to ride the Cassiar from Anchorage to Portland this past August on a few rental bikes. They documented their travels in the latest online issue that came out today. Check out what they thought of it (hint: there are a lot of amazing photos from their journey!).
