NORTHERN PATAGONIA MOTORCYCLE TOUR
This Northern Patagonia motorcycle tour encompasses a 2,000 km loop through the Lakes District in Argentina and Chile. It features an amazing amount of variety, in a country rich with lakes, rivers and forests. You will ride parts of the Panamerican Highway, stay on the Chilean Island of Chiloe, and cross the Andes Mountains range two times. You will get to explore the recreational hub of Bariloche and San Martin de Los Andes. This is an ideal adventure for those who do not mind riding a little dirt to get to out of the way naturally beautiful destinations in the heart of the Lakes District in Northern Patagonia.
Road Conditions: This motorcycle adventure features paved and dirt surfaces. 40% of the Itinerary is on gravel surface. It is not techincal riding, just dirt roads winding through gorgeous countryside.

DAY 1 - Arrival Day Arrive in Pucon, Chile, relax and get accustomed to the southern hemisphere with a Pisco Sour. Welcome dinner this evening.
DAY 2 - Pucon, Chile to San Martin de los Andes, Argentina: Ride past picturesque Villarica Volcano and cross into Argentina today. Along the way, experience the rare Araucaria forest. Known as the "Monkey Puzzle" Tree, this is one of the few places in the world they grow in the wild. Arrive at the lake shore villa of San Martin de los Andes. Stay in San Martin.
DAY 3 - San Martin de los Andes, Argentina to San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina: Ride the back roads of the famed "Lakes District" of Northern Patagonia on the Argentinian side today. Dirt and paved roads meander through heavily forested, mountainous landscapes and along large, clear lakes. Stay in Bariloche.
DAY 4 - Free Day, San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina: There are many options today. You can stroll the streets of Bariloche, known as the Switzerland of Argentina. You may want to do a side activity such as horse back riding, fly fishing or river rafting. For those who want to explore on two wheels, you may ride out to the epic Tronador Volcano - a day never to be forgotten! Stay in Bariloche.
DAY 5 - San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina to Puyehue, Chile: Cross the Andes into Chile today and stay lakes side in the Puyehue area. Highlights today are large, fresh water lakes on both the Argentinian and Chilean side of the Andes, the beauty of the Andes and the amazing paved road that connects the two countries! Stay near Puyehue, Chile.
DAY 6 - Puyehue, Chile to Puerto Varas, Chile: More great roads, lakes and volcanoes await you today as you make your way to Puerto Varas. Ride along the largest fresh water lake in Chile today: Lllanquihue Lake. Ride up the slopes of Osorno, Volcano. Stay in Puerto Varas, Chile.
DAY 7 - Free Day in Puerto Varas, Chile: Start your motorcycle journey today on the Pan American Highway along the shores of the Gulf of Ancud with a view of Chiloe Island. Take a short ferry ride before heading inland next to the fiord filled Reloncavi Estuary. The route enters the Lanquihue National Park before circling back to Puerto Varas.
DAY 8 - Puerto Varas, Chile to Chiloe Island: Another ferry ride takes us off the mainland to Chile’s second largest island “Chiloe”. Here we can search for the fabled “duendes” (dwarfs) known to inhabit this island in the mystical folklore. There are plenty of pastoral views into the waters of the gulf. Ride across the beach to get to the nights Cabins located near a “Pinguineria” or penguin rookery right on the ocean. It’s the perfect place to catch a sunset over the Pacific. Stay on Chiloe Island.
DAY 9 - Chiloe Island to Lago Ranco, Chile: Ride through the Chilean countryside to the shores of Lago Ranco. You will be crossing by ferry back to the mainland and riding through pastoral Chile. Stay near Lago Ranco, Chile.
DAY 10 - Lago Ranco, Chile to Pucon, Chile: Ride through the Chilean Lakes district on your final leg of the Lakes district circuit. Enjoy more volcanoes, large, fresh water lakes, pastoral views and tranquil back roads. Stay in Pucon, Chile. Farewell Dinner this evening.
DAY 11 - Fly Home or keep the dream alive. The next motorcycle adventure vacation awaits!
