MotoQuest Tours Verdict 4 out of 5 rating

A good all-around motorcycle with street savvy and the ability to go off-road, the BMW F 650 GS Dakar is a bike-of-all-trades.

Engine 4 out of 5 rating

The single cylinder 650 engine is very reliable and puts out plenty of power.

Ride and Handling 4 out of 5 rating

The BMW F 650 is a good street bike and easy to ride. It is also very acceptable in the dirt….which makes this bike a good choice for our adventure tours. It can be a bit top heavy, so riders should keep in mind it is not a true off-road bike. The Dakar offers a larger front wheel and longer suspension travel than its F 650 GS sibling. Consequently, the seat is higher, and it is more at ease on dirt surfaces.

Reliablility 4 out of 5 rating

The engine is solid, and the chassis can take the punishment of long dirt days. Electric start is the name of the game, and the reliability of this bike is one of the best.

Equipment 4 out of 5 rating

On our Alaska tours, the BMW F 650 Dakar is outfitted with tank bags and saddle bags. This should give the rider plenty of room for storage during the day. The Dakar also comes with a BMW compatible electric outlet and heated grips.
